Kaitlyn Willard, Catalyst Editor-in-Chief

Katie is a senior and this his her third year on the CATalyst staff. For the past two years, Katie has served as Features Editor. She enjoys writing and making broadcasts, but more importantly, she loves having the opportunity to meet new, interesting people at Millard West. Her favorite stories to write are News and Opinion. Besides Journalism, Katie is involved in Key Club, National Honors Society, Cross Country and Track.

Last year I qualified for State after a very successful year of Journalism. My senior year I couldnt wait to continue to better myself and make it to State again. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to go to the physical competition.

Leading up to the month of February, Justice and Diversity League prepared their annual exhibit for African American History Month. Outside of the library, the club set up posters with facts about prominent and more concealed African American figures who have played a role in American history.

Students hold signs on the Dodge Street Bridge advocating for climate change awareness. They made signs and listened to speakers to prepare for this rally. I wanted to get involved because it is very important to make sure you know your impact on the environment, senior Amelie Cole said. As the human population grows, the impact is getting worse.

Junior Alexander Martinelli practices the flute for the Millard West Band. He started playing the flute in elementary school and has kept with it since. It feels really nice to have a skill that you have improved, Martinelli said. If you find a song thats interesting and you know the instrument, then sometimes just playing through it is really fun.
