Miguel Paredes Reyes

Miguel Paredes Reyes, Sports Director

Miguel is a junior and in his second year of Advanced Journalism. He is on the varsity swim team, and also does club swimming in the off-season. Originally born in Caracas, Venezuela, he is fluent in both English and Spanish. When he’s not working as a server at Cracker Barrel he is either watching sports, swimming, or hanging out with friends. He is hoping to continue journalism all throughout high school and hopefully in college and have a career in it.

Junior Bella Bacon committed to the University of Iowa on September 1. On the season she has a .490 batting average, five runs and two grand slams. “Overall on the season I’ve been playing pretty well,” Bacon said. “I’m a very hard worker and a competitor at heart, so you’ll find me constantly putting in my best effort and looking on ways to improve.”

Sophomore Gaby Massey sketches away in her notebook working on her next piece in her lengthy career as an artist. Massey has been an artist for the majority of her life starting out at a young age. “When I first started out I drew more cartoonish drawings because I was little and those were all I watched,” Massey said. “Then as I got older, my drawings got more realistic.”

Hanging on to his life, sophomore Dillon Von Freiberg receives treatment for Steven-Johnson Syndrome. Von Freiberg spent an entire month in the burn unit of the hospital where he wasn’t able to eat, drink, or move. “I had just gotten out of surgery, they had to put a feeding tube in me because everything including my mouth blistered,” Von Freiberg said. “I wasn’t able to eat food and I was passed out because of the meds they gave me.”
