The Varsity Boys Cross Country team prepares for a meet at Walnut Grove. With the extreme heat, the runners focused on their physical preparation so they could perform their best. “Us, as runners, cant control the weather or the conditions we run in, so all we can do is prepare for them,” junior Piercze Marshall said. “The number one most important thing to do the day before and day of the race is to hydrate. By being hydrated, I prevented cramps, being more tired than usual, and heat-exhaustion like we saw happen to other runners.”

Red Robin’s steak fries delivered in both the size and seasoning game, earning them an 8.5 from both Joe and myself.

After 7 restaurants and hours of eating, it was hard to definitively call any of these the best fries in Omaha. Still, Red Robin’s perfectly seasoned Steak Fries were clearly the best we tried.

A tense, hard-fought battle with the second-ranked Fremont Tigers resulted in a devastating loss for the Wildcats, putting an end to their season. “Going into that game, we were definitely the underdog,” head coach Erik Johnson said. “We took them down all the way to the final minutes, before we ultimately ended up losing that game.”

Mouth of the South Southern Grub brings southern and cajun cuisine to Omaha, providing customers with a variety of mouthwatering dishes. My favorite was the Smoked Gouda Mac (pictured here along with the Cajun Burger).

I had high expectations for Doughmaha, but the prices were too high for the quality of food and the small portion sizes. The most disappointing dish was the Dough/Ice Cream Combo.

Juniors Garrett Wilcoxen and Braedyn Thompson and seniors Emma Cavalier and Danny Baron worked for a week to create their winning barrilete. Their class periods were filled with drawing, cutting and painting. “To construct our barrilete, we first had to start with the most fitting theme,” Cavalier said. “We agreed upon a skeleton mariachi themed barrilete because it has many components that represent El Día de los Muertos.”
