One of the items the Youth Senate Program looks at during acceptance is a students involvement in their school community. In addition, they also examine a student’s grades and performance in school. Senior Allison Clegg was able to use this to her advantage as she is an exceptional student and involved in several leadership roles. “One of the things they look at is extracurricular involvement as well as G.P.A.,” said Glegg. “I had to submit my transcript as well as name off the various leadership roles I’m involved in, which they looked at in addition to my test scores.”

In the Advanced Studio class, students are granted a number of freedoms. It allows student’s imagination to run wild and think and execute ideas normally not done in lower level art classes. After creating the cake base for her cupcakes, senior Alissia Graybill must decide how she will choose to decorate. Here, she demonstrates her piping skills as she finishes her Chocolate Reeses cupcake with her decedent chocolate frosting. She then tops the cupcake with bits of the chocolate peanut butter candy. "One of the best parts is finishing the cupcake with frosting and toppings," Graybill said. "I have about 30 different piping tips that I can use to decorate. I want to get into fondant in the future and play around with that in addition to the frosting."

When in the kitchen, freshman Edison Gilbert uses a lot of decorating techniques to elevate her cakes. One of her favorites, includes using the drip technique to emphasize the otherwise basic design. By using this bottle, Gilbert can control the topping and decide where she would like the drips to fall on the cake but the process to get here does take some time. "Each cake I make usually takes about two days to make completely," Gilbert said. "I like to make the cakes a day prior and then decorate them the next day. I’m a really impatient person and don’t like to wait for the cakes to cool down and would rather just do it all in the same day."

Throughout the play, there are many emotional moments which can be heard through the voices and movements of the actors. Perhaps one of the most beautiful scenes is towards the end. This is when Amelie and Nino reunite and captivate the audience with their captivating performance. “The play has some very moving moments because it’s about a little girl who is very introverted and went through a lot of different traumatizing events in her life,” Moore said. “However, it’s all told through a very whimsical manner so you don’t leave feeling like ‘oh gosh that was really rough”, and has a beautiful, happy ending.”

Right in the heart of Skinny Bones sits a massive windmill which is sure to catch the passerby's eyes. This is used, as the pumkin patch would be a bit hard to spot without it. The pumkins in the center are also availible for visitors to take home if they aren't able to catch the hayrack ride to the actual pumpkin patch.
