Haden Batchelder

Haden Batchelder, Staff Reporter

Haden Batchelder is a senior and this is his second year on the CATalyst staff. He spends lots of his free time doing photography, skateboarding, and listening to true crime podcasts. He is part of Omaha Teen Council and is an activist in his community. He is involved in the Millard West Drama Department and was a finalist for Filmworks at Nebraska Thespian Festival, and featured in a short film in Omaha Film Festival.

: Understanding the importance of public health can help young kids be mentally and physically healthy years to come. If we are not teaching students the importance of mental wellbeing it can lead students to drug abuse, toxic relationships and bad mental health.

Junior Brenna Batchelder works on her oil painting with the studio coordinator Sophie Newell. “I love seeing mentees come into their own through art,” Newell said. “Sometimes there's a semester where something clicks and everything falls into place, for example they'll try a new medium that they love or meet a mentor that they really connect with.”

As parts of Africa are cracking it is a chance for scientists to learn more about the Earth and how the plates work. David Jackson from temblor which is a source where they measure earthquakes. “A crack of this magnitude does not form overnight. The rifting process in East Africa is taking place at a rate of approximately 0.25 inches per year, or in other words, unnoticeable to most.”
