The Millard West Hockey team took on Lincoln East Capitals last weekend. Both teams are looking for a win while both teams have a combined 3-9 record. “We’re just looking for some wins,” junior Kray Grennan said. “We are hoping we can turn our season around.”

The game was a very defensive match with a lot of fouls and turnovers. “We knew going into the game that Marian had two really good players who have found many different ways to score so we had to keep them under control,” Peterson said. “Our game plan was to kind of make the rest of the team beat us.”

Kirk gets set for his next turn to bowl. He competed in game one and scored a 149, as well as helping the team to a combined score of 172 in the Baker game. In the Baker game the team was able to work well together giving them the final points they needed to secure the victory. “Our teams work really well together,” Smith said. “They cheer each other on when theyre bowling well, and they encourage each other if someone is struggling. Their attitudes are a big factor of their success.”

On November 5, Senior Evan Meyersick signed his letter of intent, officially committing to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a walk-on to play football. Meyersick joined the football team during the end of his sophomore year and  has since been putting in countless hours of work to develop his skills as a wide receiver. During his time as a member of the Wildcat football team, Meyersick has racked up a total of 13 catches, 244 yards and one touchdown.

The Masters may be returning but no fans will be returning to the tournament. The atmosphere was different the whole weekend; there were still family members and members of the club still the cheers and roars were not the same.

The Millard West Unified Bowling team had a great start to the season last Saturday. They were able to wrap up a third and fifth place finish. They have big aspirations for the season and believe they can achieve a lot.
