One of the main reasons the Wildcats have been able to improve their ball movement is through communication with one another. Throughout the season, the team has bonded more which has led to a more dependent game for the players. “Going into the game I feel we trusted each other more and that led to smarter decisions,” sophomore Makenna Scholting said. “Throughout our season we have all got to know each other a little better on a friendship level, and that definitely helps our gameplay.”

On November 5, Senior Evan Meyersick signed his letter of intent, officially committing to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a walk-on to play football. Meyersick joined the football team during the end of his sophomore year and has since been putting in countless hours of work to develop his skills as a wide receiver. During his time as a member of the Wildcat football team, Meyersick has racked up a total of 13 catches, 244 yards and one touchdown.

He was with his teammates. “Playing sports always makes the transition easier, just to be able to make new friends before school starts,” Thaden said. “Knowing people when you start school takes stress off of making new friends. I moved here from Ankeny Centennial High School in Ankeny, Iowa.”

With COVID-19 lurking, AAU Spectators must wear a mask and families must stay separated. You can see the gaps between each section of families. The spectators section is quite emptier due to fear of spread of the virus. Tournament heads also broadcast most of the games on the live stream company BallerTV so spectators can still support from home.

Mississippi State’s Elijah MacNamee crouches on the field after a tough loss to Louisville in the 2019 College World Series. For the first time in 70 years, Omaha won’t be hosting the eight-team tradition, which is an extreme blow to the city. The city has long prided itself on hosting the tournament and in 2009 spent $100 million to build TD Ameritrade Park in exchange for an NCAA promise to keep the CWS through at least 2035. Canceling the CWS alone will cost the local economy $70 million, and is a huge loss for the businesses and vendors that surround TD Ameritrade Park.
