Returning a kick with his brother on the field, senior Jackson Williams slices through the defense for a big return. Having both brothers on the field is super important to his family because his parents get to watch both their sons every Friday night. “I hope that I can show him how to be apart of a team and how to watch film,” Williams said. “It is amazing being able to be on the same team as my brother cause it is the first time it has ever happened.”

From that, Pockharel set the sike up. “I think the win was something that we really needed. We had been losing for a while,” Kerkman said. “ We had played them before and last time they beat us and we had to beat them this time.”

Although he didn’t tally any points, Patchen was a key contributor in limiting the large number of chances the Jr. Jays had. “We can use this game as a good reference to why we need to take our time,” Patchen said. “We started to rush things even when no one was pressuring them which led to odd-man rushes on Seamus. Preseason problems

Senior lineman Logan Johnson in a three point stance during the first game of the year against Millard West’s biggest rivals down the street, Millard South. In his final first game of high school football, Millard West lost against Millard South with a result of 28-27. “I wanted to strengthen my knee as much as I could,” Johnson said. “I wanted to come back as a better player than before, and focus on making what used to be my weakness my strength. I think the surgery made me closer to the game and love it a lot more.

In what could be the final “Millard v Millard game of his football career, Furgeson was an emotional leader both on and off the field. “It was a pivotal moment for us, especially going into district play,” Furgeson said. “It was important to get that win, especially falling short against Millard South. That win felt good.”

Senior goaltender Seamus Bygrave denies a shot with his left pad. The senior netminder had 24 saves en route to the Wildcats dismantling of Elkhorn in a 6-1 victory. “I’m excited for the new season,” Bygrave said. “It’s my 11th year playing, so I definitely want to make the best of it. I’m definitely optimistic about this year.”

Behrens and the Wildcat defense hit the Jays behind the line of scrimmage over ten times, and had a sack himself. “Coming into the game I wanted to blitz more,” Behrens said. “With the way the game went, I was happy I got the nod to rush after the quarterback more and more, and hope I can do it some more in future weeks.”
