The HOSA blood drive recently took place at Millard West, encouraging all students over 16 and staff to donate blood. “I thought the drive was a good way to get more experience in the medical field,” sophomore Brooklyn Bavaresco said. “I was glad to save three lives with the blood I donated.” Blood drives are hosted at other places such as libraries as well, but you can donate blood via appointment at any time.

HOSA helps the Red Cross run the blood drive each year with different behind the scenes tasks.“I volunteer at the blood drive because It helps out with my interest in learning more about what things are like in the health field,” junior Spencer Ford said. “I enjoy being able to help out the Red Cross and help make sure people are able and comfortable donating blood.”

The first blood drive of the year went fairly smoothly, not many people had issues with the donating process. " The blood drive went ok," junior Olivia Orr said. "We didn’t get a lot of people who had problems donating but we also didn’t reach our goal of how many people we had donate. Although we did get a lot of donors."
