Makayla Potter, Staff Reporter

Makayla Potter is a senior at Millard West, this will be her first year on staff as a broadcaster but will be her second year on the Yearbook staff. Makayla was a Sports Editor for the 2022-23 Prowler where she found a passion for photography and learned all about the different types of activities Millard West has to offer. During the summer she spent lots of time with her peers and applied for several 4 year universities where she hopes to study for a career in either Sports and Entertainment Marketing or becoming a part of the journalism world beyond high school. This year Makayla hopes to further her knowledge in all things that media and journalism has to offer.

Carmichael had three points in the 58-50 win, as well as three rebounds, one assist, two steals and a block. “My job isnt always to score points,” Carmichael said. “I need to go out and fight for those rebounds, but also get the ball to our playmakers.”

Joseph would have two touchdowns against Grand Island, helping propel the Cats over Islanders. “Our game plan was definitely to run the ball as much as we could,” Joseph said. “We were more physical than them, and our offense clicked because of that.”

The President’s Own Marine band performed live at Millard West
Caption: The band performs live at Millard West for many people to see. This was the first of many stops they had made. “Many musicians and music educators from around the Omaha metro were in attendance and greatly appreciated the performance,” band director John Keith said. “It was also great to see so many men and women who have retired from military service in attendance and the pride on their faces when they stood for the branchs song.”

Leading the charge on defense, senior defensive back Jon Furgeson rips through the Millard West banner. In what could be the final “Millard v Millard game of his football career, Furgeson was an emotional leader both on and off the field. “It was a pivotal moment for us, especially going into district play,” Furgeson said. “It was important to get that win, especially falling short against Millard South. That win felt good.”

Behrens and the Wildcat defense hit the Jays behind the line of scrimmage over ten times, and had a sack himself. “Coming into the game I wanted to blitz more,” Behrens said. “With the way the game went, I was happy I got the nod to rush after the quarterback more and more, and hope I can do it some more in future weeks.”
