Keeping the ramp sturdy, junior Jayci Reimers helps her teammate Addison Scott roll her bowling ball down a lane at the Millard Invite. Participating in several Unified sports before Reimers was looking to expand her relationships with her fellow teammates. “You get the privilege to work with kids that help you learn more life skills that you can use in the future,” Reimers said. “I am so happy I chose to join Unified Bowing because everyday and every minute you spend with these kids you are learning so many new things and making so many memories.”

The Wildcats swept their way through Districts, advancing to the state tournament. “I am a bit nervous for state, but my mindset going in is to just have fun,” senior Sadie Millard said. “It’s my last time playing volleyball for Millard West and is going to be the end of my volleyball career overall, so no matter the outcome I want to have the time of my life on the court.”

Hultman had a very solid game, totaling three touchdowns and 196 rushing yards on 25 carries. “I would like to think we have had success running the ball all year,” assistant coach William Sadowski said. “Coach Pete has done a good job calling plays and the offensive line has put forth work.”

On top of trying to run their best, the team tries to build each other up during the meets. Their main goal is to finish first, but they also have a goal to support their teammates. “The team chemistry we had with each other was unmatched to any of the other seasons,” Marshall said. “We always had each other's backs and built each other up for each race no matter the circumstances. We worked with each other to better ourselves and improve during each practice and race.”

Although Millard West lost, they still have been putting in work for tonight's game. They have watched film and corrected some errors from last week in preparation for today. “This is the final game of the season, and I know the players want to send the seniors out on a win,” coach Seth White said. “They will need to match their execution with the great effort they will bring to the game this week.”

Sophmore Reef Beal had a goal in the scrimmage against Creighton Prep. Millard West was not able to get anything going and fell to Prep. "I think we all took the game very serious," said Beal. "I know I took it a little too serious."

Commenting on fellow sophomore Jackson Williams, and the rest of the year. “The back half of the year is the part that really matters the most,” said Peterson”. “I feel like teams don't know Jackson yet and he's such a playmaker and we can use him all over the place on special teams and offense.” Williams is the main target of Peterson when he is on the field, as the two have combined for over 800 yards

Bankston scored seven kills on the night to add to her season total of 202 kills. “Our motivation going into the game was we wanted to get it over in three,” Bankston said. “We haven’t swept many teams lately, we wanted to control the game from the start. That’s what really kept us in the game and made sure we played our best game.”

Wallor pitched in the first inning, trying to get as many outs as possible, and trying to produce weak hits. Overall, Waller gave up five hits over three innings while giving up four earned runs. “I wanted to try and keep the innings as short as possible to try and limit the amount of runs,” Wallor said. “Coming back in for relief I kinda knew what to expect with Millard North's hitting so I was more prepared.”

Pretending to rip open his shirt like Superman, sophomore Nicklaus Wright cheers himself on as he gets his name announced for the unified game. Wright had just finished cheering on his fellow classmates during the buddy game and was ready for his turn to play. “We played really well because we practiced very hard before our game,” Wright said. “We made sure we were ready to play and have fun before the game.”

Although the Wildcats were down by 31, they still played with speed and kept pushing. They were able to stop the pass game near the end of the third quarter and kept it that way. “The game was out of reach by the start of the 4th quarter, but you have to take advantage of the game reps and try to get better and continue to compete,” coach Seth White said. “I think our players kept competing in the 2nd half and played much better.”
