Pitching an outstanding game on the mound, senior Brady Ferguson stares then fires the ball down for a strikeout. The Cats traveled to Kansas to play two out of state teams at the beginning of the season. “Being a pitcher I have to help guide the team and if I’m not doing well then it will affect everyone,” Ferguson said. “All of us seniors try to stay positive and remain calm, hoping it wears off on the others.”

Sterbens has been put in this situation before and would not back down no matter the circumstance. ‘’Getting outs is my number one priority once I step on the mound,’’ Sterbens said. ‘’I trust my defense behind me so I do my best to make it easy on them whether that's a pop-up or a routine ground ball.’’

As one of the many closers on this team, Sterbens job is to get the final outs and limit any damage done by the pitcher before him if need be. “My main focus when coming into a hard situation is to keep a low pitch count and to create outs any way I can,” Sterbens said. “As long as we can get the outs we need, we should be good.”

This wasn't a new situation for the junior, as Venteicher had five saves on the year and looks for more this year. “I put a lot of time this off season into the weight room,” Venteicher said. “We have a lot of returnees and newcomers this season look great. I’m excited because we play the best schedule in the state. It’s gonna be a fun ride and we got some revenge to get this season.”
