Olivia is a sophomore starting her first year as a reporter on the Catalyst staff. Olivia is excited to be involved in the production of broadcasts and reporting school activities. She loves to travel and explore her own community. Olivia is hoping to use her drive to explore her surroundings to review new locations in the Omaha area. At Millard West, she is also involved in show choir, student council, Future Medical Professionals and Tri-M music honors society.

The deviled eggs all come with varying sauces and garnishes, but the thing that makes their flavors powerful is that they mix the flavors into the fillings. Some of the deviled eggs presentations are incredible like the Cali Roll egg. Others like the Blue Cheese egg and the Ham and Cheese egg look a little bland.

Millard West’s flags were at half-staff on Dec. 7 in memory of the lives lost at Pearl Harbor. Many times students will see the flag at half-staff and not question it. Students will continue to stay uninformed if flags flying at half-staff is normal to them.

Two members got to run under the parachute near the end of the session. There is music playing and volunteers direct the members on how to move the parachute. “I’ve loved Special Musicians because it provides another opportunity for expression for people with intellectual disabilities,” volunteer Sophia Hill said.

Daylight Saving Time may appear to be harmless to your health but can cause extreme damage physically and mentally. Society no longer needs the sun to work at early hours in the morning but we do need it to stay healthy. DST negatively affects people’s sleep schedules leading to heart attacks and sometimes death.

This is a soft pretzel from Jack’s Pretzel Shack. The pretzels were a new addition to the Vala’s Pumpkin Patch menu this year, and have been very popular. The cheese came in a small container with all the soft pretzel orders.

This tiered cake is bursting with flavor and pizzaz from it’s lovely vanilla cake to its cream cheese frosting and gold-dusted berries. Friend and customer Valerie Pioppi is proud of Olivia and her baking business. “I show all my friends her cakes, and I think it really displays her work ethic,” Pioppi said. “I would definitely get a cake from her because the way she decorates them is so pretty.”
