The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

As a kid when you played with your legos, you imagined all the characters and all the other pieces you made coming to life in your head. Today, those imaginations are coming true in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.

On February 8, Warner Bros. Animation, Vertigo Entertainment and Warner Animation Group production company released the second part of the Lego Movie, a sequel started were the first movie ended after they beat President Business from gluing every citizen of Bricksburg with Kragle Glue.

In this sequel you can expect everything from it great animation design with an explosion of color and great voice acting by Emmet (Chris Pratt), Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett), Tiffany Haddish Queen Wa’Nabi (Tiffany Haddish), and many more. Also has inspiration from other movies most noticeably “Mad Max Fury Road” on which their non pretty town Apocalypseburg is based on with all of its dystopian vehicles.

In this movie there were a lot of cameos of various fictional characters like, Justice League members, Gandalf, Velma from Scooby Doo, and others. It also included some real people cameo like the United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Bruce Willis.

Lego Duplo blocks were used as the alien invaders, which i personally thought was a cool idea and design because it bring backs the classic legos and bring back some memories from childhood of mine and probably others. Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi is made of these Lego Duplo blocks to show the difference between human and aliens from other dimension.

The story line of this movie goes like this:

The city of Bricksburg is been getting attack by these cute looking like alien creatures. They fought them everytime they came back until it was evolved into a Mad Max looking like world known as the Apocalypseburg. For five years no one showed up to attack them, but one day Emmet made a pretty house for him and his girlfriend Lucy, and that attracted the invaders. And then the invaders found the citizen of Bricksburg and took five of them with them to there system called the Systar System where everything is pretty and nice.

When they were taking to the Systar System, their sassy Queen Waterva Wa’Nabi has a matrimonial ceremony that afternoon at 5:15 with Batman. Back home at Bricksburg everyone was blaming Emmet for the abduction of his friends, so he goes out in pursuit of his friends in a spaceship made from his dream home. On they way to the Systar system Emmet meets a space adventurer Rex who helps Emmet get tough and ready for the big fight to beat the queen. To know the rest about the story line you have to watch and find out what happens.

The problem with this movie was that it wasn’t that funny like the first one. They had somewhat of a musical theme to it, where in the first one it was a dialogue-based movie. This one had a lot of music, and most of the dialogue delivery by the Queen was just mostly music, and that threw me off. The movie would have done better they ended on a cliffhanger, something that very possible to do. There is a scene in the movie were the movie could have potentially ended there, generate a third movie and could have made more revenue.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would recommend to others to watch.
