Lady Wildcats take 4th at Districts

Senior Hailey Reavis shot a 94 at the girls varsity golf A-1 District Tournament. “I did good, but I feel like I could improve my short game on the green,” Reavis said. “My chipping and putting hurt me in the end more than anything.”

While a lot of people crack under pressure and stumble out of control, the Girls Varsity Golf team makes a strong statement with a good performance at the A-1 District Meet at the Awarii Dunes Golf Course.

This girls golf team going into this meet trying to prove that their last place finish at the Metro Conference meet was nothing to worry about. The team scored a 386 which lands which landed them in 7th place.

Sophomore Emily Evans shoots a career low 84 placing in the top 15 in the whole meet. She shot a 47 on her front half and a 37 on her back 9 and placing in the 11th. after a 3 hole playoff.

The Lady Wildcats place fourth at districts with 411 points with Emily Evans leading the team with a score of 92. Senior Hailey Reavis shoots a 94, senior Maddy Kolar with a score of 107, Annaliese Wakefield with a score of 118, and Jenna Hunteman with a score of 128.

This meet was the end of the season for most of the team, but Emily Evans secured a spot for the State Championship meet with Reavis getting a wildcard spot with a strong chance of playing the State Championship meet on the 15th.

“I am really excited I made State this year and I’m really proud of myself that I’ve worked this hard to make it here,” Evans said. “To get ready for the tournament. I am trying not to put stress on myself because I play worse when I have a ton of pressure.”

The team themselves had a good day taking fourth place and redeeming themselves after their 7th place finish at Metros. The team finished off their season on a good note and the girls are very satisfied about their performance.

“The team did the best that they could,” Reavis said. “We did good compared to everyone else that was there.”
