Millard West clubs like Knitting and Crocheting club have been meeting on Zoom every Thursday to work on their projects. “We just "hang out" and all pull our projects out and work on them while we catch up,” knitting and crocheting sponsor Sarah Karst said. “It's really nice, honestly. We talk about what's going on with us, good shows we've watched, movies, ways this has affected us, the positives of being in quarantine, etc. - pretty much anything within reason.” This opportunity to meet online is allowing them to reconnect and talk with one another while being safe.

Students gathered in the UNO auditorium awaiting to see Chuck Hagel. The main focus of the symposium was to put a spotlight on public service. “I think for students who are interested in politics, it is a good introduction to the importance of public service and how students should get involved early in their lives.” Watson said. “Public service is important to the preservation of our democracy especially during our polarized society today.”

Sitting in Advanced Studio Art, senior Emily Asplin is working on a side project of a character from the show Stranger Things. Students in Advanced Studio art are allowed to focus on other projects outside of the assigned work.“Watching shows really inspired me to draw the characters and help develop my style,” Asplin said. “I really like to focus my drawing on people, I am fascinated with the cartoony realistic style and that’s what I have developed my style into.”
