The President’s Own Marine band performed live at Millard West
Caption: The band performs live at Millard West for many people to see. This was the first of many stops they had made. “Many musicians and music educators from around the Omaha metro were in attendance and greatly appreciated the performance,” band director John Keith said. “It was also great to see so many men and women who have retired from military service in attendance and the pride on their faces when they stood for the branchs song.”

Their program really stood out to me because the coaches and players invited me in and welcomed me like I was a part of their family.

Carpentry student work together to fix the rusted jointers. That really hot, humid weather really rusted them out, carpentry teacher John Fraser said. We fixed them with a mix of chemicals, elbow grease, and of course the electrolysis.

As a HOSA volunteer Junior Spencer Ford checks in donors for the blood drive. HOSA helps the Red Cross run the blood drive each year with different behind the scenes tasks.“I volunteer at the blood drive because It helps out with my interest in learning more about what things are like in the health field,” junior Spencer Ford said. “I enjoy being able to help out the Red Cross and help make sure people are able and comfortable donating blood.”

Teacher Jennifer Priest and her family get ready to cut the ribbon and kick off the JDRF walk at Mahoney State Park. “My favorite thing about the walk is the support you feel from all the families and to know they go through the same challenges your family does,” Priest said. It is also so uplifting to see all the funds that are raised for diabetes research. Each year we are given more hope that we are moving closer to a cure of Type 1 Diabetes!”

ACP students with their Scooter’s branded aprons and cups ready to deliver coffee to thirsty teachers. “It’s a part of a Daily Living class, and a Work Introduction Network class,” ACP teacher Nicole Schwalbach. “The coffee cart program is a vocational training program for students with disabilities that teaches them life skills that they could carry to a job.”

Students in STEM academy, seniors Luke Lombardo, Landon Chessareck, Nathan Durand and Andrew Johnson, work on an adaptive swing while visiting J.P. Lord. When building, they are taking into account that this swing will be made for sensory purposes. “We have been working on this swing all year,” Johnson said. “It’s the biggest project we have and will be the most impactful for J.P. Lord students.”

Freshman Tyler Ihm getting his interview taken by volunteer Holley Purcell in the library. Ihm had to get his interview taken as part of a class he was taking. Every student has to get their interview taken as part of Speech and Debate class. “ Talking about myself is probably the hardest part of the Mock Job interview,” Ihm said. “ I felt pretty good during the interview but I was a little nervous.”
