Frost Advisory

On Saturday, Sep 1st, all of the juices were flowing as The Scott Frost led Huskers were going out onto the field for the home opener against the Akron Zips. Although the game didn’t go as planned, the energy and the environment was incredible, and the season ahead looks very exciting.

It has been a long time since Nebraska football fans could have something to be excited about, and Frost is just the energy they need. He was a former Nebraska quarterback as he won a National Championship in 1997. Last year, he coach for the University of Central Florida, and led them to an undefeated team. So he knows how to win. As Mike Riley only had one winning season in his three years as head coach, many people are expecting more from Frost, and he is very confident in his team.

“Other teams better get us now, cause we are just getting better,” Frost said.

Many of the players enjoy Frost being the head coach because he tries to make the game fun for the players and everyone included. He cares about the success, but he believes in order for that the players have to be having fun.

“We have a lot of kids that love the game,” Frost said. “And we are going to work in a way that the kids are going to enjoy it and care about each other.”

The players knew that it wouldn’t be hard to accept Frost back into the program and as the new head coach, because he had been through the same thing the players have.

“You go with a guy like that,” wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr. said. “ He’s been in the position that we are now. He’s easy to follow because he has been in the same cafeteria. In the same weight room. On the same field, it’s easy to follow that guy.”

Now that the season has begun, the Huskers have a lot of offseason hype that they have to live up too. The Huskers schedule is very difficult this year. According to Huskers football 24/7 they are projected to go 5-7 or 6-6 which would still be an improvement from the previous season. Even though they weren’t able to go on the field and show the fans that the offseason work payed off, they were able to do the tunnel walk and this was a thrill to many including Coach Frost.

“The tunnel walk was incredible just for me to experience it again, it’s been a long time,” Frost said. “It was so loud we couldn’t hear the music or anything, but you could feel the energy, and that was the best part of the night.”

Even though the tunnel walk was amazing for many of the players and fans I think everyone is excited to see what they can do on the field. The Huskers are bringing back an old time rivalry against Colorado this saturday, and the team thinks they are excited and prepared.

“To be able to play Colorado is pretty cool for me,” senior linebacker Luke Gifford said. “Growing up it was the rivalry game. And I remember the game, I don’t remember what year it was but [Ndamukong] Suh’s pick and former NU kicker Alex Henery’s field goal to win it, from the 50. I was sitting up in East Stadium watching it. It was pretty cool, I’m excited to be able to play against them.”

Many of the fans are getting amped up for this game Saturday, because Colorado is one of the best home games all year.

Although this season is going to be very tough, the players, fans, and the coaches are ready for the season and can’t wait to see what the team, and Scott Frost can do this year.
