A Wrinkle in Time is a science fantasy/adventure film that was based on a 1962 novel written by Madeleine L’Engle and has kept people laughing and ever since some women happy because of the message of female empowerment and diversity.

The movie starts off with 13 years old Meg Murry’s classmates and teachers see she falling behind in her grades and using her father disappearance to fall behind. Her family knows that she is emotionally immature, but also sees her capable of doing great things. The family includes Meg’s scientist mother Dr.Kate Murry (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), her missing scientist father and her 5 years old brother Charles Wallace Murry, a child genius who can sometimes read Meg’s mind.

The next morning, Meg discovers that a fifth dimension refers to a scientific concept her father was working on before his mysterious disappearance. The following afternoon, Meg and Charles Wallace encounter Meg’s schoolmate, Calvin O’Keefe, a high-school junior who, although he is a “big man on campus,” considers himself a misfit as well. After they visit an old haunted house were Mrs.Whatsit lives they encounter two companions of Mrs. Whatsit’s, the equally strange Mrs. Who and the unseen voice of Mrs. Which. Then Mrs.Whatsit shows that she, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which are all these centaur-like creatures in disguise as humans. There the “Mrs. Ws” reveal to the children that the universe is under attack from an evil being who appears as a large dark cloud called The Black Thing, and the only person that can stop the evil is Meg and her light.

The director of the film,  Ava DuVernay, did an incredible job with the film and the reason being is by following the book and using an amazing variety of actors and actress. Other films that Ava DuVernay did were 13th, Selma, Middle of Nowhere, I Will Follow, This Is the Life. These movie that she worked in the past were amazing, but Wrinkle in Time did better than her past projects and the reason being all the computer usage or CGI in the film that made this motion picture a really realistic. The actors in this feature include Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Mindy Kaling, Storm Reid, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Pena, Andre Holland. Because of the big variety of actors and actresses in the movie made the whole experience fun, intense, realistic overall a complete masterpiece the whole way through. A Wrinkle in Time was recently released and in movie theaters now and I hope you have time to go see the movie.
