Love is all around
New teenage romance sequel leaves viewers in shock
November 10, 2020
The new hit romantic drama film, “After We Collided,” was finally released on October 23, 2020. This storyline is based on a 2014 adult fiction novel and sequel of the 2019 movie, “After.” Star actor and actress, Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford act as Hardin Scott and Tessa Young and continue their story where they experience positive and negative events in their lives.
“After We Collided” continued a month later after Tessa and Hardin’s separation. Hardin is living in an abandoned parking lot in his car. Meanwhile, Tessa is starting her brand new job as an intern at Vance Publishing.
Throughout the movie, the two lovers meet again after a very long month of having no communication. Many events such as spending time together, going on cute dates, talking about their feelings more and much more take place which leads to them trying to rebuild their relationship. But of course, problems start to occur again such as trust issues, cheating and separation. While Tessa is having to deal with her relationship with Hardin, she also is having problems with her mother and her father that she hasn’t seen in years.
Tessa returns back to the home she and Hardin stayed in to retrieve her items and while there she finds a gift from Hardin which leads her to reminisce about their previous relationship. Before she could leave, Hardin and his mother, Trish (Louise Lombard), arrive and the pair are forced to pretend to be together as Hardin did not inform her about the breakup. Because they start spending time together, they try to rebuild their relationship. While at a New Year’s Eve Party, Hardin slips away with Jamie, whom he had previously been with, to ask for forgiveness so he can be a better person for Tessa. Shortly after, Hardin runs into Jamie again and asks to keep their conversation between them. Tessa misinterprets this as Hardin cheating on her and runs out leading to another fight between them. Because of this, Hardin doesn’t return home nor answers Tessa’s messages. The next morning when Hardin calls while Tessa is driving, she tries to reach for her phone which causes a distraction from the road causing her to get into a car crash. When Hardin passes it as he’s on the road, he runs out to Tessa but is unable to catch up as she’s being taken away by an ambulance. From being lectured by both Trevor and Landon (Shane Paul McGhie) on how Hardin treats Tessa, Hardin leaves a letter explaining he must leave and stay away from Tessa. From this, Tessa falls into a depression from the loss of a loved one where she tries to get him back but there’s no hope. After separating once again, do they reunite once more and live happily ever after or do they go their own ways?
In September 2020, it was announced that two sequels, “After We Fell” and “After Ever Happy” were greenlit to go back into back-to-back production with Castille Landon directing both films. All of the movies including the upcoming ones are based on Anna Todd’s hit young adult books.
I enjoyed this movie very much. In the first movie, the producers and directors explain the character’s story so well throughout the filming process. I also relish movies where it takes multiple movies to explain a character’s story. One main thing I wasn’t a fan of in the second movie, “After We Collided” was the amount of sexual acts that are being shown. In my opinion, those scenes to parts might be seen as inappropriate and do not want their underage children to being viewing it. But, overall, I think the second movie is really good. They do a great job on showing the real life problems that relationships have and the acting is amazing. I am excited to see what their story is in the new movies that will be coming out in the future.
I highly recommend watching this hit romance movie. To me, it is the type of movie that viewers would be able to understand the characters storyline by only viewing the second movie. With having such famous actors and actresses from hit shows such as Dylan Sprouse from “Zack and Cody” and famous actress, Candice King from “Vampire Diaries” draws more people in because they see actors and actresses they are big fans of.

Hi Mila. I’m from VA and I’m part of a school newspaper too. I was reading different articles on The Catalyst to give me ideas for our newspaper and I really liked your article! I watched “After” but was debating watching “After we collided” because of the sexual content. Your article really made me want to watch it. It was a perfect summary! 🙂
