Many people know popular mobile games such as Minecraft, Fortnite and more. These games have been out for a while and continue to grow and progress. While these games don’t go unnoticed, the gaming world has turned their heads toward this new game on the rise. 

Among Us was created in 2018 by Innersloth, but this year it has taken the world by storm. This popular game, while initially released in 2018 to little mainstream attention, has received a huge wave of popularity in 2020 due to many well-known Twitch streamers and YouTubers playing it. In response to the game’s popularity, a sequel, Among Us 2, was announced in August 2020. According to its estimates, Among Us has now been downloaded more than 86 million times across the App Store and Google Play. I don’t usually follow suit with bandwagon things, but I’m hooked on this game.

This game can be played with up to 4 to 10 players, and as players are preparing the spaceship for takeoff by completing tasks, be careful as one will be an imposter and will be determined to kill everyone. When a body is found or an emergency meeting is called, by using the chat room, the players all must vote for who they think the Imposter might be. By being the best crewmate your goal is to complete all your given tasks, and if all crewmates complete the tasks the imposter loses. If other players walking around see you working you are less suspicious and they won’t try to pin you as an imposter. Even if you’re unfortunate enough to get killed by an imposter, you can still help your team achieve victory by completing your tasks as a ghost. You won’t be able to stop any sabotages, though.

Being the imposter is also a key role. To win the game playing as the imposter, you must kill all other players without being caught and eliminated. One helpful piece of advice is to blend in. Try not to just walk around aimlessly, but confidently as you move from task to task. You’ll be faking them, so take your position into account. When you find someone, the kill is one thing, but escaping without anyone spotting you is another. You can utilize the vents in each room to make a swift escape. Sometimes you can kill the whole crew without lifting a finger. Imposters can sabotage certain areas of the ship, like the O2 room or the Reactor, and can instantly wipe out the whole crew if the crew doesn’t fix the problem fast enough.

There are many other details to this game, you can have multiple imposters and can play multiple games, there are tons of ways to spice up each match. There are a total of three maps to choose from and you can change more game details in settings.

Among Us has really just started to take off and I feel like it’s gonna stick around for a while. It’s fun to play with different people and learn more and more about it each time you play. This game is out of this world.
