After nearly two years, the Grammy award-winning pop music band Imagine Dragons are back with their new album, “Evolve”. It has been roughly two years since they released their last album in 2015, Smoke and Mirrors, although they have made a few songs for major motion pictures like Suicide Squad, Me Before You and Passengers in 2016. With their newest album “Evolve”, hitting the streets, June 23^rd of this year, the album is described as an evolution of their music.

Their single Believer, became a fan favorite very quickly when it was released in early February as their lead single. The song starts off with a strong drum beat that develops into a catchy tune that anyone can remember. The song slowly becomes more up-beat and when the beat drops and hear, “You made me a, you made me a believer,” makes me energetic and ready to take on anything. I personally use the song to keep me going whenever I feel down, and the lyrics speak to me, since I have been through tough times myself. It makes me feel pumped and ready to take on anything. The song is very moving and I believe that the song can speak to many people. The song wants you to just keep believing in what you want to do in life and to follow your dreams or goals, especially since many people can relate to the song as they have faced similar challenges in their early lives. Ever since its release, it has been highly praised and became the most popular out of their other songs they have available in the album, and reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100.

Their second single, Thunder, released worldwide on April 27, also became an instant hit. Thunder, also based off Reynolds’s early life, about how people in school bullied him and teachers saying he couldn’t be able to sing on stage, as since that was always his dream. The lyric “Thunder” in has a special meaning to it, the meaning here is explained in this quote:

“I’m so happy for having a crappy middle school and high school and getting kicked out of college, I’m happy for all that because that brought me to this place of being”, Reynolds said.

One song that I personally do not enjoy is Dancing in The Dark. It has a very dark and dusky feeling and does not fit their style in anyway. There are only two choruses in the entire song and becomes very repetitive very quickly. Also, when Reynolds songs, his voice is auto tuned, which makes him sound like a robot. I do not get a good vibe when I listen to it and I do not know why they would make a song like this.

The album Evolve is a great comeback for the group. Their music has changed into a more Pop/Electronic music, than their normal Light Rock/Alternative, but the change makes their music refreshing and new. In general, the songs are incredible and fit their type of style that the group is known for. I recommend their album Evolve if you have been a fan of Imagine Dragons since the beginning. It is great to hear Imagine Dragons again and I will keep on rocking on with their new album.
