On Thursday, Feb. 21, the Wildcats were able to to send the Seniors out on a good note with a 59-43 win over the Omaha Burke Bulldogs helping them advance to the District Championship against Omaha Westside.

Junior Hannah Leo led the tide as she was able to obtain 16 points and get out of a slump she was in. Senior Chaise Pfanstiel came on late and scored most of her 13 points in the second half.

Coming into this game both these teams were very even matched as the Wildcats were 12-10 and the Bulldogs were 11-11.

The first quarter was very fast pace as the Wildcats were helped out by a early five points by Leo, but hot-shooting by sophomore Hailey Ingram for Burke, who finished with 19 points, led them to a 17-15 lead.

The second quarter was much more slower pace. Senior Katelyn Osborne showed some stout defense as she was able to get a few steals from the Bulldogs and they only had five second half points. The tide turned for the Wildcats as Leo got a steal and got a fast break “and-1”. This helped the Wildcats comeback a bit and take a 22-22 tie into the locker room.

The third quarter was all about junior Kennedy Darner as she was able to get the Wildcats on a run as she made three of her four threes in the third, finishing with 12 points. The Wildcats took a 37-32 lead going into the fourth quarter

The last quarter was all Millard West as sophomore Aanaya Harris, who finished with 14 points, tried to take over in the fourth, but wasn’t able to make a basket. After the Wildcats were able to get a charge from her that just led to free throws the rest of the way.
