The Braves and Astros face off in a cutthroat battle for six games

On Tues, Oct. 26th the prestigious World Series kicked off. This is the annual clash between the two best teams of the American League and National League of Major League Baseball. 

From the American League were the Houston Astros, and from the National League were the Atlanta Braves. The two teams both had outstanding years; the Braves won 88 games, and the Astros won 95. They were both pretty even and fans were in for a good, entertaining series. The Astros had the better record in the regular season so they got home field advantage and started the series off at home.

The first game of the 2021 World Series was in Houston. The two starting pitchers were Charlie Morton for the Braves and Framber Valdez for the Astros. This was a very interesting pitching match-up. In the first inning, Jorge Soler for the Braves took a fastball deep and the Braves took an early 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Ozzie Albies got a clutch RBI double to get the Braves up 2-0. In the next inning  Soler got another RBI, putting the Braves up 3-0. In the 3rd inning Adam Duvall homered, putting them up 5-0, and it wasnt looking good in game one for the Astros. The Astros got their first run in the 4th on an error by Swanson. In the top of the 8th, Freddie Freeman got a sac-fly putting the Braves up 6-2. That’s a wrap on game one Braves win.

In game two, the pitching match-up was Max Fried for the Braves and Jose Urquidy for the Astros. The game started with Alex Bregman getting a sacrifice fly to put the Astros up 1-0. Then in the top of the 2nd inning, Travis d’Arnaud homered to left field to tie the game. In the bottom of the second, the Astros had a big four run inning and put them up 5-1. Then in the top of the 5th Freddie Freeman got an RBI single, and the score was 5-2. Then the Astros scored a run in the bottom of the 6th and 7th to seal the deal and win the second game of the World series and it was tied 1-1. 

The Braves were at home for game three, were at home for game three which benefited them. The pitchers were Luis Garcia for the Astros and Ian Anderson for the Braves. The Braves scored a run in the bottom of the 3rd with an Austin Riley double putting the Braves up 1-0. In the bottom of the 8th, the Braves struck again with a d’Arnaud home run. The Braves shut out the Houston Astros 2-0, putting them up 2-1 in the series. 

The two pitchers were Zack Greinke for the Astros and Dylan Lee for the Braves in game four. The Astros got on the board in the top of the 1st with a Carlos Correa sac fly. Once again in the top of the 4th, the Astros scored with an Altuve home run. Austin Riley homered for the Braves to get on the board. In the bottom of the 7th the Braves put on two runs, and they ended up winning 3-2 to go up 3-1 in the series.

The pitchers were Framber Valdez for the Astros and Tucker Davidson for the Braves. The top of the 1st was a huge inning for the Braves with a massive grand slam by Adam Duvall to put the Braves up 4-0. In the top of the 2nd, the Astros scored two runs with an Alex Bregman double and a Martin Maldonado sac fly. In the bottom of the 3rd, Freddie Freeman hit a solo homerun to put the Braves up 5-4. The Astros had a big 5th inning to put them up 8-5, then scored one more in the 8th to put them up 9-5 and win game five.

This was the last game of the 2021 MLB baseball season. The pitchers were Max Fried for the Braves and Luis Garcia for the Astros. In the top of the 3rd inning. The Braves put on three runs With a huge Jorge Soler homer. Once again in the 5th inning the Braves scored three more runs to put them up 6-0. In the 7th Freddie Freeman hit a solo homerun to put them up 7-0. That sealed the deal. The Braves beat the odds and proved a lot of people wrong to get to this point, and this won’t be the last time we see them in a world series game.
