Making only 50 million internationally on the 2020 Dolittle movie that cost 175 million to make, this new movie was a flop at the box office.

The 2020 Dolittle movie was a film that many Doctor Dolittle fans were looking forward to with well-known actors such as Robert Downey Jr, Tom Holland, Selena Gomez and John Cena.

The movie starts up with Doctor Dolittle (Robert Downey Jr,) grieving the loss of his wife. She died in a shipwreck trying to find this magical plant. The doctor is stuck in the house playing mice chest with a gorilla named Chee-Chee (Rami Malek) with social anxiety because he does not want to face the world without his beloved wife. The movie tries to play off Tommy (Harry Collett) like this boy who helps the doctor get back out into the world. Yet this does not really turn out as anything since the doctor’s main motivation is to save the Queen (Jessie Buckley) because if the Queen dies he will lose his house.

The Queen was stuck with a sickness and the doctor found out that she was poisoned with the deadly nightshade plant. Now the doctor must go out on a quest to his wife’s fathers to steal her notebook back. With the notebook, he will be able to find a path to this magical island to find a hidden flower. This will save the Queen and he will be able to keep his house and keep all the animals safe.

Thinking about it, I could almost find nothing good about this movie. The animation is not up to par for the year 2020, and Downey has this horrible British accent that can’t even understand. At first, It is believed that he is playing an insane guy but as the movie goes on it just gets harder to understand him. The only people who are laughing at this movie are children and a couple of immature teens.

The fact that this is a children’s movie doesn’t even give it an ounce of forgiveness. There is no character development unless viewers count Tommy learning how to speak to the animals, which ended up being dropped halfway through the movie and never comes to anything.

The movie feels rushed with its 1 hour and 41 minute time frame. By the end of the movie, there are so many loose ends that never got resolved, that with extra time may have helped the movie end on a better.

I do not recommend this movie to anyone above the age of 8. With the constant flow of bad jokes, such as a tiger with mommy issues and a dragon with a whole ton of gas. Also, with a predictable storyline, the movie is something that should be avoided at all costs.
