Over summer vacation, traveling to somewhere unknown can be quite exciting, a sense of adventure filled junior Jason Chase as he traveled to the Unitas Mountains in Utah.
On June 30, he traveled to the Unitas Mountains, some of the highest mountains in Utah, which are filled with lakes and hiking trails. All around Chase were swarms of mosquitoes and chilling winds, but the views from up top were beautiful. Other things that Chase did were heading to the Lagoon amusement park, near the Great Salt Lake.
“I wish I could have seen my grandparents,” said Chase. They live in Utah along with some of my other relatives.” All my relatives live in Utah because I was originally from Utah; however, we moved when I was still quite young.”
Along with Chase was his brother Desmond Chase. On this trip, Desmond Chase took a much greater interest in the simple things, like fishing and swimming.
“I want to go back to catch more fish and use my life straw,” Desmond Chase said. “The thrill of being in the mountains was enticing, the adventures that we could go on could last a lifetime for me at least.
In contrast to Desmond Chase, Malcolm Chase would prefer to stay at home. Not being interested in simple things or the beauty of nature.
“There were so many bugs around us,” Malcolm Chase said. “It was just nasty being swarmed by mosquitoes in this frigid nightmare, I never want to return.”
The frosty temperatures were a real turn-off for freshman Chloe Chase. The Chase family didn’t plan for the 24-degree winds which was a daily annoyance. Still, these frigid winds couldn’t kill the swarms of bugs.
“It was freezing up there,” Chloe Chase said. “The fire would not start and we didn’t bring enough blankets for the nights.”
Over the summer, people will try to get the most out of it. This was the case for the Chase family. From fishing at the top of the mountains to traveling from amusement parks, this was one special summer.
