Senior defensive end Trey Mittelstedt (58) celebrates after a clutch sack on Omaha North junior quarterback Sebastion Circo. Mettelstedt, and the entire Wildcat defense held Circo to just 135 passing yards, and the rest of the Viking offense to 97 rushing yards. “I knew the pressure would eventually get there,” Mettelstedt said. “We are very talented up front, so as long as we followed through, we would hit home and make those plays.”

Watching the stands fill up for Volleyball Day, senior Kaelin Pribyl stopped to snap a pic before the stadium got too busy. On Aug. 30, Nebraska beat the world record with an attendance of 92,003 people. These types of moments help bring more attention to womens sports, which allows them to receive the respect they deserved a long time ago, Pribyl said. The video tributes were what I enjoyed most about the game because they were videos of players talking about what this opportunity means for them personally and how it impacts sports all together.

A part of history

“I felt that it was great to see the families and future members come out and support the band. It has definitely been an event I look forward to year after year,” said band student Blake Kahler.

Marching for the community

Cheering for the first touchdown of the year, senior Jacclyn Smidlien and friends jump and scream in excitement. This was a special moment for the group as they’ve waited four years to get that front row spot. “It was such a fulfilling moment, Smidlien said. “Getting to cheer for our football team, year after year, has been so much fun, and I can’t wait to do it for the rest of the season.”
