The HOSA blood drive recently took place at Millard West, encouraging all students over 16 and staff to donate blood. “I thought the drive was a good way to get more experience in the medical field,” sophomore Brooklyn Bavaresco said. “I was glad to save three lives with the blood I donated.” Blood drives are hosted at other places such as libraries as well, but you can donate blood via appointment at any time.

Language arts teacher James Grachek allows his students some free time to get their work done. “In my classes, the only homework I consistently assign is reading,” Grachek said. “Otherwise, I prefer to have students learn and practice skills in the classroom so they can use me and their peers as resources if they dont understand a concept. Students may occasionally have to catch up on work they didnt finish or work on an ongoing project at home, but otherwise, I dont design assignments specifically as homework.”

From the photos, I would expect each stuffed bear to be bigger than a car seat headrest. The product I got did arrive within 10 days. However, the bears that came were of poor quality with misprints on their faces. The panda came with a suction holder for some reason. This is definitely not what was advertised. If I had to rate this product I would give it a ⅖ because it actually arrived on time and was $9 total.

Students in journalism work weekly to make their stories enjoyable and informative for everyone. Journalism is something that is very important to me, as well as my peers,” senior Quinn Burton said. “I’ve actively been a part of Advanced Journalism and Yearbook everyday for the past two years and it’s been such a rewarding experience getting to use my voice in addition to sharing others voices through my stories. Throughout the years, I’ve consistently seen the amount of effort that my classmates put into their work, and it’s something that unfortunately goes unnoticed. Sometimes tackling a broadcast and news paper article each week can be a grueling task, but for most students in the Journalism program, it’s a weekly routine.”

Cheering for the first touchdown of the year, senior Jacclyn Smidlien and friends jump and scream in excitement. This was a special moment for the group as they’ve waited four years to get that front row spot. “It was such a fulfilling moment, Smidlien said. “Getting to cheer for our football team, year after year, has been so much fun, and I can’t wait to do it for the rest of the season.”
